15,000 National Guard Troops to Deploy to DC for Inauguration
Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, has activated and will deploy 15,000 National Guard Troops to Washington DC for President-Elect Joe Biden's inauguration.
After last week's deadly Pro-Trump riot at the US Capitol officials feel that extra security will be necessary for the inauguration ceremony. The FBI released a bulletin on Monday warning that "armed protests" are planned for all 50 state Capitols on or before inauguration day.
The Army is working together with the Secret Service to determine which National Guard members may require additional screening to ensure they were not sympathetic to "domestic terrorists."
Troops will also be receiving additional training upon arrival in the city.
