3rd Night of Protests in Kenosha Leads to Shooting and 2 Deaths

What Happened:

  • A shooting during the third night of protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin resulted in two deaths and a third person being seriously injured.

  • Officers responded to a report of multiple gunshot victims just before midnight on Tuesday.

  • An investigation is ongoing, said Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth, they are investigating whether the shooting resulted from a conflict between protesters and a group of men protecting businesses.

  • The protests continue days after the police shooting of Jacob Blake, an unarmed black man who was shot seven times in the back by a police officer on Sunday when he tried to enter his SUV. Blake’s 3 children were in the car when he was shot.

  • Blake is still in the hospital and is currently paralyzed from the waist down.

  • The US Justice Dept. and FBI agents are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

  • The Sheriff’s Dept. of Kenosha County has issued a curfew of 8PM for public safety and the Wisconsin Governor has declared a state of emergency and increased the National Guard presence.
