What Happened:

• According to a report released by the Labor Department on Thursday, an additional 751,000 Americans claimed first-time jobless benefits last week.

• Although that is down from the previous week of new claims, it is a little higher than economists had expected.

• Continued jobless claims stood at 7.3 million, down by around half a million from the previous week. While still substantial, this is a slower decline than previous weeks leading analysts to be concerned whether the job market recovery is slowing down.

• The new jobs report comes out on Friday and analysts expect that 600,000 jobs will have been added in October.
