Airbase in Iraq Housing US Troops Suffers Rocket Attack
On Wednesday, an airbase in Iraq housing US and coalition forces was targeted by at least 10 rockets.
There are reports of no casualties and minimal damage at the Ain al-Asad airbase thus far and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The rockets struck the airbase in the early morning.
The attack comes less than a week after the US carried out an airstrike in Syria targeting an Iran-backed militia, leading many to believe that this is retaliation. Iran targeted the same base just over a year ago.
One of the objectives of last week's airstrike in Syria was to deter future attacks on US troops.
