Appeals Court Rejects Trump’s PA Election Lawsuit
What Happened:
On Friday, the Federal Appeal's Court in Pennsylvania rejected Trump’s appeal which sought to challenge the election results in Pennsylvania.
Said 3rd Circuit Judge Stephanos Bibas (a Trump appointee) in his assessment, "Free, fair elections are the lifeblood of our democracy. Charges of unfairness are serious. But calling an election unfair does not make it so. Charges require specific allegations and then proof. We have neither here... [the] campaign’s claims have no merit." The three-judge panel were all appointed by Republican presidents.
Bibas added, "Voters, not lawyers, choose the president. Ballots, not briefs, decide elections.” The ruling also denied the campaign’s request to stop the state from certifying its results, a request Bibas labelled as “breathtaking.”
Trump's legal team once again affirmed that they would appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court. Trump and team hope that the Supreme Court will overturn the lower courts' rulings.
Despite public claims of widespread voter fraud, little evidence has been presented by Giuliani in the courts thus far. Trump's team is instead focusing on trying to overturn the Supreme Court's previous decision to allow Pennsylvania to accept mail-in ballots through Nov. 6. They are also seeking to challenge up to 1.5 million mail-in votes, particularly in Democratic-leaning areas such as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Giuliani has gone on record multiple times affirming that a "mountain" of evidence will be presented once they reach the Supreme Court.
