Biden Signs Executive Orders on Healthcare
On Thursday, President Biden signed two executive orders on healthcare which reopened enrollment on the federal Affordable Care Act exchanges.
Open enrollment ended on Dec. 15th under the Trump administration, however, Biden has opened a special enrollment period allowing the uninsured to select policies in the marketplace.
The executive orders also strengthen Medicaid and direct federal agencies to re-examine enrollment procedures for Medicaid, the ACA and financial assistance as well as protections for those with pre-existing conditions.
Said Biden, "Today, I'm about to sign two executive orders that basically...undo the damage Trump has done. There's nothing new that we are doing here other than restoring the Affordable Care Act and restoring Medicaid to the way it was before Trump became president."
