Biden to Announce New 60-Day Eviction Ban
What's Happening:
According to several sources, the Biden administration plans to announce a new 60-day eviction moratorium, shortly.
This new and different moratorium, identified by the CDC, has the legal authority to apply to areas with high and significant increases in Covid-19 infections and is expected to cover 90% of the areas inhabited by Americans.
The previous moratorium lapsed this past weekend resulting in several Democratic lawmakers requesting executive action to help keep renters in their homes as the Delta variant of the coronavirus continues to spread.
Democratic lawmakers are also calling on states and cities to be more aggressive in distributing the $47 billion approved for federal housing aid and ensure it is delivered to renters and landlords.
