Biden to Purchase 100 Million More Doses of J&J Vaccine

What Happened:

According to multiple sources, President Biden will announce on Wednesday that he is directing the US Dept. of Health and Human Services to purchase an additional 100 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 Vaccine.
A timeline of when the additional vaccines will be delivered is still unavailable. In a deal brokered by the White House, pharmaceutical giants Merck and Johnson & Johnson have been working together to produce J&J's vaccine.
President Biden announced last week that the United States would have enough vaccines for every adult by the end of May, accelerating the original timeline by two months.
As of Wednesday morning, over 93 million Americans have received the vaccine with an average of just over 2 million people receiving the vaccine per day over the last 7 days. The Biden administration plans to ramp up the vaccine distribution to be able to administer over 3 million shots per day.
