CDC Tells States to Prepare for a Covid-19 Vaccine Late October

What Happened:

  • The US Center for Disease Control told health officials to prepare for the distribution of a Covid-19 vaccine possibly as soon as late October.

  • The CDC has confirmed that these documents were sent to city and state health officials.

  • The documents prioritize distribution of the vaccine to certain populations first, such as health care professionals, essential workers, etc.

  • The documents do not necessarily mean a vaccine will be available by late October as preparation is necessary either way.

  • There are currently 3 vaccines going through Phase 3 trials in the US, the vaccines developed by Moderna, Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
