Day 1 of the Democratic National Convention - Recap
What was Said:
Michelle Obama delivered the final speech during the opening night of the Democratic National Convention in which she condemned Donald Trump saying he was "in over his head" and warning that the nation’s mounting crises will only get worse if he is reelected.
Michelle added, “Donald Trump is the wrong president for our country. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us...If you take one thing from my words tonight, it is this: if you think things cannot possibly get worse, trust me, they can; and they will if we don't make a change in this election.”
Bernie Sanders encouraged his supporters to vote for Biden in the upcoming election as well saying that the nation can't survive another four years of Trump. Said Sanders, "The future of our democracy is at stake. The future of our economy is at stake. The future of our planet is at stake."
Four Republicans also spoke at the convention in support of Biden during a segment entitled "We The People Putting Country Over Party." Most notable was former Ohio Gov. and former Republican Presidential Candidate, John Kasich. The others were Former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, Former Rep. Susan Molinari, R-N.Y., and one-time Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman.
Biden will formally accept the Democratic Presidential nomination on Thursday.
