Day 2 of the Republican National Convention - Recap
Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Sen. Rand Paul, Gov. Kim Reynolds and Eric Trump all spoke on Day 2 of the convention.
The themes of the night focused on the economy, the pandemic and Biden.
What was Said:
Melania Trump spoke largely about the Covid-19 Pandemic and offered her gratitude to first responders and all those afflicted. Said Melania, "My deepest sympathy goes out to everyone who has lost a loved one and my prayers are with those who are ill or suffering. I know many people are anxious and some feel helpless. I want you to know you are not alone."
Melania also rebuked the DNC last week saying "I don't want to use this precious time attacking the other side because as we saw last week that kind of talk only serves to divide the country further."
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, on an overseas trip in Israel, sent in a taped appearance in which he said “President Trump has put his America First vision into action...It may not have made him popular in every foreign capital, but it’s worked.”
Trump also showed a video of himself signing a pardon for Jon Ponder, a man from Nevada who has founded an organization that helps prisoners reintegrate into society. Said Trump, “Jon’s life is a beautiful testament to the power of redemption."
