DOJ Investigating Potential Bribery for Presidential Pardons
In a court document that was unsealed on Tuesday and first reported by CNN, it was revealed that the Department of Justice is investigating a potential bribery scheme in which White House officials exchange Presidential Pardons for hefty political contributions.
Most of the 18 page document is redacted, including the identities of those being investigated, but the document does reveal that people are suspected of lobbying White House officials to secure a pardon or sentence commutation and that a substantial political contribution was also discussed in exchange for a pardon.
More than 50 laptops, iPads and other digital devices have been seized by the DOJ as part of the ongoing investigation.
