Early Data Shows Pfizer Covid-19 Vaccine to be 90%+ Effective

What’s Happening:
On Monday, pharmaceutical company Pfizer announced in a release that early data for its coronavirus vaccine shows it to be more than 90% effective.
The interim analysis looked at 94 cases out of 43,000 volunteers and found that those who got two doses of the vaccine had less than 10% infections while those who were given a placebo had more than 90% infections.
Pfizer added that it will seek emergency use authorization from the FDA after volunteers have been monitored for two months after receiving their second dose of the vaccine, which should occur around the third week of November.
Said Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, "With today's news, we are a significant step closer to providing people around the world with a much-needed breakthrough to help bring an end to this global health crisis."
