FBI Warns of Ransomware Attack on US Healthcare System
What Happened:
On Wednesday, Federal agencies warned that there may be an imminent attack from Russian cybercriminals on the US Healthcare system.
The attack appears to be designed to use ransomware to lock up hospital information systems. Security experts say five hospitals have already been impacted by the attack.
The FBI along with two federal agencies warned that they had "credible information of an increased and imminent cybercrime threat to U.S. hospitals and healthcare providers."
