FDA Approves Moderna Covid Vaccine for Emergency Use

What Happened:
On Friday, the US Food and Drug Administration formally approved Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use in the United States.
This will allow widespread distribution of the vaccine which will go to health care workers and residents and staff of long-term care facilities first.
The approval comes one week after the FDA gave emergency use authorization for the Pfizer vaccine, making Moderna the second company to receive approval.
With the approval, officials say Moderna’s vaccinations can start being distributed early next week.
