FDA Authorizes Pfizer Vaccine Use In Children As Young As 12

What Happened:

• On Monday, the Food and Drug Administration expanded emergency use authorization for Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine to include children ages 12-15 years old.

• Pfizer had previously conducted a trial with 2,260 adolescent volunteers, the vaccine was shown to be 100% effective at preventing Covid-19 in children aged 12-15.

• The authorization sets the stage for a vaccine rollout for young teens before the start of the new school year.
