GOP Rejects Biden's Revised $1.7T Infrastructure Bill
On Friday, Republican Senators roundly rejected President Biden's revised $1.7 trillion infrastructure deal saying it is way too far from their proposed $568 billion alternative plan.
Biden's original proposal was for a $2.3 trillion infrastructure bill and the revised $1.7 trillion plan was proposed to try and reach a deal with Senate Republicans.
Negotiations are still ongoing but it is looking less and less likely that a deal will be struck by Biden's proposed Memorial Day deadline.
One of the points of contention is that Republicans wish to have consumers foot the cost of the bill through tolls, gas taxes and other fees whereas the Biden administration wishes to pay for the bill by raising corporate taxes, something the GOP is adamantly against.
