House Passes Resolution Calling For Removal of Trump From Office
On Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed a resolution calling for the removal of President Trump from office via the 25th amendment. They cite Trump's perceived role in the violent Pro-Trump riot at the US Capitol last week as the main reason.
The vote is merely symbolic at this point as Vice President Mike Pence released a letter earlier Tuesday saying he would not be invoking the 25th amendment as he does "not believe such a course of action is in the best interest of our Nation or consistent with the Constitution."
The House is pursuing the impeachment of Trump for "incitement of insurrection" and introduced an article of impeachment on Monday. The House is expected to vote on the article on Wednesday.
