Hunter Biden Emails Under Investigation by Senate Committee
Updated: Oct 16, 2020
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is investigating newly released emails from Hunter Biden.
Said Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), "We regularly speak with individuals who email the committee’s whistleblower account to determine whether we can validate their claims...we can confirm receipt of his email complaint...and are in the process of validating the information he provided.”
The emails, which were obtained by the New York Post, claim that Biden's son introduced his father, former Vice-President Joe Biden, to one of the top executives at the Ukrainian firm, Burisma Holdings.
Critics are saying that this introduction may have been the reason Joe Biden created pressure on government officials in Ukraine to fire prosecutor Viktor Shokin. Shokin was actively investigating Burisma at the time.
Biden and allies say that the Obama Administration's Ukraine policy had nothing to do with Burisma Holdings and that the intervention for the firing of Shokin was because of corruption concerns.
Said Joe Biden, I have "never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings" and the firing of Shokin had nothing to do with his son.
UPDATE: The Biden camp has responded saying that the NY Post report is false and that they have reviewed Biden's official schedule and no such meeting ever took place. They also say this investigation is politically motivated and has no merit.
