Hurricane Warning in Effect for Louisiana - Zeta Could Hit by Wed.
Hurricane Zeta made landfall near Tulum, Mexico with sustained winds of 80 MPH. It is currently on a path that could hit New Orleans by Wednesday night.
Zeta weakened to a Tropical Storm with sustained winds of 70 MPH after making landfall near Tulum, but it is expected to regain strength over the Gulf of Mexico.
This is the 27th named storm of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season, tying 2005 as the most active season on record. Zeta is also the furthest into the Greek alphabet the Atlantic season has gone.
Zeta's landfall made it the fifth named storm to do so in 2020, setting a new record.
