Interim Trials Show Russian Sputnik V Vaccine To Be 91.6% Effective
According to an interim analysis, Russia's Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine has been shown to be 91.6% effective against symptomatic Covid-19 and 100% effective against severe and moderate disease.
The findings were released by The Lancet on Tuesday and based on roughly 20,000 participants.
Criticized for its early rollout before Phase 3 trials were complete, the Sputnik V vaccine is a two-dose adenoviral vaccine using different adenoviruses for each dose. This is similar in approach to the Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines, but differs from the mRNA vaccines developed by Pfizer and Moderna.
