What Happened:

• According to several sources, the Justice Department will be suing Georgia over the state's restrictive voting laws. Attorney General Merrick Garland is expected to make the announcement on Friday.

• Garland announced several weeks ago that the Justice Department would be looking into the new restrictive voting laws being implemented in Republican-controlled states and that action would be taken if prosecutors found any unlawful activity. At least 14 laws have passed more restrictive voting laws this year.

• The Biden administration is also trying to overhaul election law and had a proposal blocked by Republican Senators earlier this week.
