Justice Department is Suing Georgia Over Voting Laws
Updated: Jun 27, 2021

What Happened:
According to several sources, the Justice Department will be suing Georgia over the state's restrictive voting laws. Attorney General Merrick Garland is expected to make the announcement on Friday.
Garland announced several weeks ago that the Justice Department would be looking into the new restrictive voting laws being implemented in Republican-controlled states and that action would be taken if prosecutors found any unlawful activity. At least 14 laws have passed more restrictive voting laws this year.
The Biden administration is also trying to overhaul election law and had a proposal blocked by Republican Senators earlier this week.
