Laura is Now a Tropical Storm - 6 Deaths Reported

Hurricane Laura made landfall early this morning as a Category 4 hurricane. It has now lowered to a Tropical Storm with max winds of 70 mph.
The extent of the damage isn't fully known yet but Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards says it is "extensive."
Edwards Deputy Chief of Staff Christina Stephens tweeted earlier "We do expect that there could be more fatalities."
There are now six known fatalities from the storm including a 14 year old girl in Louisiana who died when a tree fell on her home.
A shelter in place order is in effect in Lake Charles, Louisiana because of a local plant fire.
Nearly 470,000 homes and businesses are without power in Texas and Louisiana.
