Louisville Police Fire 2 Detectives Involved in Breonna Taylor Raid

What Happened:

  • On Tuesday, the Louisville Police fired Det. Myles Cosgrove and Det. Joshua Jaynes, two of the detectives involved in the Breonna Taylor raid. One is believed to be responsible for the shot that led to Breonna Taylor's death and the other was the one who sought the warrant.

  • The two detectives were informed by notification last week that they would be dismissed and an official letter of dismissal was released this Wednesday.

  • Taylor was shot and killed by police in her apartment six months ago following the execution of a no-knock search warrant.

  • Her death is one of the many that have led to widespread protests throughout the nation against police brutality and systemic racism.

  • Since the shooting, Louisville's mayor has banned no-knock search warrants.
