Military Coup in Myanmar - Leader Suu Kyi Held Prisoner

What Happened:
Early Monday, a military coup took place in Myanmar. State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi was placed under house arrest.
Communication lines have been cut to the capital and Kyi’s National League for Democracy Party has been unreachable.
In a statement, the United States has said they oppose “any attempt to alter the outcome of recent elections or impede Myanmar’s democratic transition.”
Australia has also called for the release of Suu Kyi.
Kyi’s party won the majority of seats in parliament in the election, however, the military claims there was widespread election fraud.
Kyi became the country’s leader after several decades of military rule.
