NASA's Ingenuity Helicopter Takes Flight on Mars
On Monday, NASA's Ingenuity helicopter took flight on Mars achieving the first powered and controlled flight on another planet in human history.
NASA's goal was a 40 second flight and the Ingenuity helicopter was able to hit all of its targets.
Because Mars' atmosphere is much thinner that Earth's, the helicopter had to spin at 2,500 revolutions per minute, five times faster than a helicopter on Earth.
The successful flight is considered a tremendous milestone in human scientific history.
