Pelosi and Mnuchin Agree to Keep Govt. Funded Until Dec. 11

What Happened:

  • On Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reached an agreement to avoid a government shutdown at the end of the month.

  • The new agreement will provide funding through December 11, 2020.

  • House members have already approved the deal, 359-57, after the announcement.

  • The Senate will vote on the legislation in the next few days.

  • The agreement includes nearly $8 billion in nutrition assistance (a Democratic priority in the negotiations) and tens of billions in funds for the Commodity Credit Corporation, which will provide critical aid to farmers.
