Pfizer Seeks Emergency Use Approval of Covid-19 Vaccine
What Happened:
On Friday, Pfizer asked the FDA to allow emergency use of its' Covid-19 vaccine. If approved, this could potentially result in the first vaccines being available as early as December.
The request comes a few days after Pfizer and BioNTech's final analysis showed their Covid-19 vaccine to be 95% effective with no serious safety concerns.
In a joint statement, Pfizer and BioNTech said, "Efficacy was consistent across age, race and ethnicity demographics. The observed efficacy in adults over 65 years of age was over 94%.”
Said Pfizer CEO, Albert Bourla, in a statement, "Our work to deliver a safe and effective vaccine has never been more urgent."
