President Biden Declares a Major Disaster in Texas

What Happened:

On Saturday, the White House announced that President Biden had declared a major disaster in Texas and asked federal agencies to identify additional aid for the state.
Texas has been particularly hard hit by recent winter storms which left millions without power in sub-zero temperatures, in many cases with no potable water and water infiltration in their homes.
The declaration allows the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide additional resources, including grants for temporary housing and repairs and low-cost loans to cover uninsured properties.
President Biden plans to visit Texas next week but said he did not wish to visit now and create an additional burden for the state.
