Prime Minister of Lebanon steps down
Prime Minister Hassan Diab announced his resignation and that of his government on Monday night in the wake of last week's massive explosion in Beirut.
There have been multiple protests over the last week calling for his resignation.
Last week's explosion in Beirut led to over 160 deaths, 4000+ injuries and the displacement of several hundred thousand inhabitants.
What was Said:
Diab called last week's explosion a "disaster beyond measure" and said "we have decided to stand with the people."
Diab also criticized Lebanon's ruling elite for creating "an apparatus of corruption bigger than the state."
