What Happened:
On Friday, Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, passed away at the age of 99.
In a statement, the palace announced, "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."
Philip spent over seven decades supporting his wife in her role as queen. Philip is survived by the queen and their four children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, as well as eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
