Protests Continue in Belarus as Strike Leader Detained

What Happened:
Belarus' authorities detained a strike leader on Monday as the government tries to get a handle after weeks of protests.
Protests in Belarus have been ongoing since the presidential election on Aug. 9 in which longtime President Alexander Lukashenko was declared the overwhelming winner over Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
Exit polls indicated that Lukashenko won 80% of the vote, but opposition groups claim the election was marred with fraud.
Anatoly Bokun, who leads the strike at a large factory in Soligorsk was detained by police and faces a 15 day jail sentence on charges of organizing an unsanctioned protest.
