Rest of Surfside Condo Demolished Ahead of Tropical Storm Elsa

What Happened:

• Late Sunday, demolition crews set off explosives to demolish the remaining portion of the South Florida condo that partially collapsed 10 days back.

• Search-and-rescue operations will now resume in the hopes of finding survivors in areas that were previously difficult to access.

• Approaching Tropical Storm Elsa also added urgency for the demolition as operators were concerned how the storm could affect the already precarious structure.

• So far, rescuers have recovered the remains of 24 people from the rubble; 121 people are still missing.

• The entire backside of the 12 story residential condo collapsed 10 days ago in what the Mayor called a "catastrophic failure."
