Senate Reaches Power Sharing Agreement - Gives Democrats Control
On Wednesday, the Senate finalized a power-sharing agreement which will allow Democrats to take the lead in Senate committees. The resolution is expected to pass through the Senate today.
Said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D), with the power sharing agreement in place, we "are ready to hit the ground running on the most important issues that face our country" and "are not going to waste any time."
The Democrats took control of the Senate in January, however, a stalemate prevented the party from taking control in several important committees as the chamber operates under the rules of the previous Congress, which was controlled by Republicans.
An agreement between the two Senate leaders needed to be reached for Democrats to take control in these key committees.
