Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao Resigns After Riot
On Thursday, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao announced that she is resigning from the Trump administration, effective Monday, in protest of the Pro-Trump mob that invaded the US Capitol building on Wednesday.
In a statement, Chao, who is married to Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell, said that the violent invasion of the Capitol building "has deeply troubled me in a way that I simply cannot set aside."
Chao has now become the highest ranking member of the Trump administration to resign in protest of the Pro-Trump insurrection at the Capitol building.
