Trial Shows Moderna Vaccine Effective With Young Teens

What Happened:

• On Tuesday, Moderna announced that its Covid-19 vaccine is safe and effective with children as young as 12.

• In the trial of 3,700 volunteers, the vaccine was 93% effective at preventing Covid-19 in children aged 12-17, two weeks after the first dose.

• Moderna announced that it plans to submit its data to the FDA early next month seeking emergency use approval. If approved, it would become the second vaccine available for young teens, after Pfizer.
