Trudeau's Liberal Party Wins Canadian Election - Doesn't Secure Majority Though
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party won Monday's parliamentary elections with 156 seats, the most of any party. However, they were unable to secure the 170 they were trying to get to achieve a majority in the House of Commons.
Of the other parties, the Conservatives won 121 seats, the leftist New Democrats won 27 seats, the Bloc Québécois maintained 32 seats and the Greens lost two seats.
Trudeau had called for the early vote, two years before the deadline, in the hopes of achieving a majority in the House of Commons.
