Trump Wins Delay of Subpoena for Tax Returns in Appeals Court
President Trump won a delay of a subpoena for his tax and financial records in federal appellate court on Tuesday. The court cited the pending appeal of his lawsuit against the Manhattan DA's office as the reason for the decision.
Trump previously sued the Manhattan DA's office to try and block access to these documents. He lost that case in federal court a few weeks back and has appealed the decision.
The 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments of the appeal on September 25th, which makes it highly unlikely that the documents will be handed over to the DA's office prior to the election even if the decision is ruled in the DA's favor.
Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., has been seeking 8 years of Trump's personal and business financial records as part of an investigation into his business practices.
