Typhoon Goni Slams Into Philippines Sunday

What Happened:
Typhoon Goni hit the Philippines on Sunday with sustained winds of 140 MPH and gusts of 174 MPH, the equivalent of a category 5 hurricane.
Goni has resulted in at least 7 deaths and caused major flooding and volcanic mudflows to bury houses.
The typhoon comes on the heels of another typhoon that hit one week ago and left 22 dead.
The government warned that this typhoon was capable of causing major damage and that people would experience "catastrophic, violent winds and intense...torrential rainfall."
Goni has weakened since making landfall but still remains dangerous with sustained winds of 102 MPH and gusts of up to 143 MPH.
