UK in a recession for the first time in 11 years

What Happened:
The UK economy suffered its largest drop on record this year because of the Coronavirus pandemic. It is currently in the deepest recession of all major economies.
Between April and June, the economy shrank 20.4% compared to the first quarter of the year.
This is the first technical recession the UK has been in since 2009.
According to the Office for National Statistics, there was a rebound of 8.7% in June which gives some hope of a recovery.
