US Jobs Report - 1.4 Million Jobs Added in August


What Happened:

  • The US economy added 1.4 million jobs in August and unemployment fell to 8.4%, down from 10.2% in July.

  • This is the fourth straight month of improvement after the spring lockdown.

  • The overall economy is still down 11.5 million jobs during the pandemic.

  • The unemployment rate varies across different races. White unemployment rate is at 7.3%. Black, Hispanic and Asian workers still remain above 10% unemployment with black people being the highest at 13%
