Updated: Feb 8
Despite the wave of omicron infections, the US economy added 467,000 jobs in January, an unexpected strong hiring gain for the month.
Unemployment increased slightly to 4.0%, up from 3.9% last month
Overall, economists say the US economy looks to be heading in the right direction despite the highest inflation rate in four decades. The FED announced earlier this month that it would raise interest rates starting in March to combat inflation.
