US Will Withdraw More Troops From Afghanistan and Iraq

What's Happening:
On Tuesday, Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller announced that the US will withdraw 2,500 US troops from both Afghanistan and Iraq by Jan 15, 2021.
Currently, there are about 4,500 US troops in Afghanistan and 3,000 troops in Iraq.
The move comes after former Defense Secretary Mark Esper was fired last week. Esper was against a premature withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan until further conditions on the ground were met.
The draw down is consistent with President Trump's promises made earlier in the year to further reduce troops overseas.
