World Health Organization Visits Wuhan Virus Lab
On Wednesday, World Health Organization representatives visited the Wuhan Institute of Virology to investigate potential origins of the Coronavirus.
Said WHO team member Peter Daszak, "We’re looking forward to meeting with all the key people here and asking all the important questions that need to be asked."
The WHO team left after about three hours without speaking to journalists.
The Wuhan Institute of Virology has been under speculation as to being the source of the Covid-19 virus, something the Chinese government has strongly denied.
Said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin, "It should be noted that virus traceability is a complex scientific issue, and we need to provide sufficient space for experts to conduct scientific research. China will continue to cooperate with WHO in an open, transparent and responsible manner, and make its contribution to better prevent future risks and protect the lives and health of people in all countries."
Actual confirmation of the origins of the virus is likely to take several years as it is difficult to pin down the source of an outbreak.
